Ludmila Kalasnikova

Ludmila Kalasnikova is an EMI Academic Coordinator at the Online Education Office (EOL) within the Vice-Presidency of Information Technologies (VTI) at the University of Chile. She holds a Master of Education from Daugavpils University (LV), and a Master of Applied Linguistics from the University of Southampton (UK), along with CELTA and TKT certifications. In her current role, Ludmila is responsible for developing and implementing professional teacher training courses related to the internationalisation of curriculum and education within the University of Chile. She has presented at numerous international conferences, including ELF 13, ILCHE 2022, ELINET 1, 2 & 3. Her research interest lies in EMI methodology and didactics, the role of English as a Lingua Franca (ELF) in higher education (HE), and in the design of teacher professional development programmes.

Alicia Salomone

Alicia Salomone is a Full Professor at the Department of Literature of the Faculty and Philosophy and Humanities and the Director of the International Office at UCH’s Rectory. She holds a PhD in Hispanic-American Literature (UCH) and a Master in Global Englishes (University of Southampton, UK), along with CertTESOL from Trinity College London. As head of the University’s internationalisation strategy, Alicia has led initiatives to internationalise students’ experience and academics’ careers, promoting international cooperation and intercultural awareness. Along with Ludmila Kalasnikova, Alicia created UCH’s EMI Programme in 2020 and has implemented this teacher training programme since then. She also takes part in the teaching team of the CLIL course (Content and Language Integrated Learning), a joint programme between UCH and the University of Heidelberg (Germany).

Natalia Tranchino 

Natalia Tranchino is an Adjunct Professor at the Department of Linguistics of the Faculty and Philosophy and Humanities. She holds a Master in Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL) (Universidad Andrés Bello, Ch). She also works as First Year Coordinator of the English Linguistics and Literature Programme.  With over 12 years’ experience teaching children, teens and adults in ESP and EFL courses in various educational institutions, Natalia has taken part in numerous academic teams devoted to creating materials and courses for EFL students of the Departments of Linguistics, Philosophy and History at Universidad de Chile. Once a former trainee at the EMI course implemented in 2021, Natalia has now become a member of the EMI Team, together with Ludmila and Alicia.

Osvaldo Guzmán

Osvaldo Guzmán is the deputy director of International Relations at the University of Chile. He holds a Master’s in International Development and Cooperation and a degree in English Language and Linguistics from the University of Chile. His areas of expertise and research focus on the internationalization of higher education and the implementation of linguistic policies. Osvaldo has a strong international background, having completed academic studies at Lund University (Sweden) and Tufts University (USA). Additionally, he has participated in global leadership and diplomacy projects in Japan through the “Ship for World Youth” program and in Brazil at the Innovation and Science Diplomacy School (InnSciD SP).
